It does not seem appropriate to post the essay I had planned for today.
Our hearts and hopes are with the peoples of Israel and Iran, and all those affected.
May this war be speedy and successful. The world will be an infinitely better place if the repressive religious fundamentalist regime is eliminated, if the forces of democracy and pluralism end the destabilizing and hateful influence of the ayatollahs and usher in reconciliation to the region.
My Substack is emphatically not a breaking news site. However, in almost two years, I have never missed a Saturday post. Today is nothing more than a wish for hope and swift success.
