I knew that if there had been some sort of incident, people would’ve been stampeded. I’ve never attended another one of those shows.
I have been retired for 2 years now, but I taught college for 45 years. I taught in various universities and in both very liberal and very conservative states in the USA. I broke all previous records at the university where I taught for 33 years for the speed at which I reached the rank of full professor. That was based on the quality and quantity of publications, the prestige of the presses that published one's work, and one's national and international reputation as a scholar. Unlike most of my colleagues, I came from a low income background and so had a strong work ethic. I also found reading books and essays that interested me and joining the conversation on them by writing up my views a lot more fun and interesting than jobs like the factory line work and house cleaning I had done to pay for my education. I always felt that the work I did made a meaningful contribution to the world. I was extremely popular with the student whom I encouraged to learn how to express their ideas effectively and how to analyze and respond to the writings of others. (Over 100 of them came to my retirement party and many are still in touch with me.) But many of my colleagues were different. They found academic work difficult. They had grown up in comfortable middle class or upper middle class homes, They hadn't had a job until they were in their twenties and resented the amount of time serious scholarship demanded of them. They had trouble connecting with students, to some degree because they resented having not only to correct the students' work but to teach them how to do better. They were angry and resentful that the university didn't seem to value them or reward them as they felt they should be rewarded. But then they found a way to be seen as important, to get approval and rewards and to get students to respect them. They started to carry on with increasing hysteria about Israel and what they described as the world's worst humanitarian crisis there. This began at my university with the start of the BDS movement. Now they were important, now their valuable work was leading demonstrations against Israel and writing little opinion pieces for liberal newspapers and magazines. And anyone who criticized this was a racist, even if we weren't white. And any administrator who told them they should concentrate more on what they were hired to do, research, publish, and teach, was corrupt and evil. That's my personal history of how this all got so crazily out of control. Imagine a business in which unproductive employees demanded raises and promotions because they left their work undone and went into the streets to scream lies about a foreign country. And no one dared speak up about this. The only thing that will save our education system is making requirements for continued employment much more stringent.

I live near Boulder, CO, and as you know, there was a firebombing of a Run for Their Lives gathering of Jews who go out every week to walk for the hostages. Never mind that people were injured and an 80-year-old woman died, there is a group that is committed to harassing them every week since, regardless of the fact that they have already experienced violence and trauma. They follow them around with bullhorns, get in their faces, and yell racist and derogatory slogans.
There's a recent video of one of these self-appointed agents of justice harassing a Jewish leader of the group at a Boulder City Council meeting, yelling into a megaphone that "If anything happens to a pro-Pali, we know who's responsible!" And then, the keffiyah minions took over City Council (as they have done every month for 2 years now) not to discuss city issues, but on the "silence about Gaza."

I live near Boulder, CO, and as you know, there was a firebombing of a Run for Their Lives gathering of Jews who go out every week to walk for the hostages. Never mind that people were injured and an 80-year-old woman died, there is a group that is committed to harassing them every week since, regardless of the fact that they have already experienced violence and trauma. They follow them around with bullhorns, get in their faces, and yell racist and derogatory slogans.
There's a recent video of one of these self-appointed agents of justice harassing a Jewish leader of the group at a Boulder City Council meeting, yelling into a megaphone that "If anything happens to a pro-Pali, we know who's responsible!" And then, the keffiyah minions took over City Council (as they have done every month for 2 years now) not to discuss city issues, but on the "silence about Gaza."
The projection is behind psychotic. There have been exactly zero incidents of Jewish citizens harassing or inciting violence, let alone killing anyone over this hysteria. And other than one day of acknowledgement of the attack, there has been radio silence on this issue. Oh wait, except for the City Council member who wouldn't condemn it as a hate crime, and has been posting antisemitic content on her social media feed since.
