As someone who has identified with the Left for all of my adult life, I am thoroughly disgusted with the antisemitism many “progressives” have been demonstrating over the past year. These leftists, artists, labour groups, civil rights organizations, feminists, LBGTQ organizations, and students have turned against those who have supported them for decades. For what? A group of authoritarian, homophobic, misogynists who want to destroy Israel and as many Jews as it takes. I really don’t understand; I thought we were beyond the old fashioned antisemitism of the old left. I guess not.

Thanks for having a brain.

I saw videos from this event (hi from Vancouver). It was horrifying. My husband is Jewish. We know people who attended. How can they not hear themselves? It breaks my brain as much as my heart.

Jeez how much are flags going for in Canada?!? They’re $6.95 in the US 3x5 ft, the price of a cup of coffee. I didn’t get mine to burn them though.

Point taken, I am just jesting.

“We want ‘48?“ You mean, they want to restore the British mandate?

If the "Pro-Palestinian" crowd really wanted to help the Palestinians, they would vociferously condemn Hamas for having stolen the Palestinians' humanitarian relief food. Instead they blamed Israel and accused them of starving the Palestinians. I mean, these activists could have made a difference. They could have put pressure on Hamas to feed the people or at least stop stealing their food. But no.

Tells you everything you need to know about them.

A Jewish friend of mine (obv I am not) told me several months ago that if the protestors would Strat condemning Hamas she would be right out there with them. But they're not. So she isn't. Mainly because she's afraid of what might happen.

My son (the elder twin--and yes, it matters to them who came out first) is studying at Concordia in Montreal. Over the last couple of weeks, the Hamas Thugs vandalized the central building of the university I believe at the entrance to the underground. Then they did it again Friday. I understand a judge in Quebec has issued a temporary restraining order similar to the one McGill obtained last week against several Hamas backed student groups. My son was in the adjacent building during the attack. As a foreign student on a study permit (U.S.), he is not allowed to participate in any political activities while studying in Quebec, which is the same restriction I was under when I studied at McGill in 1982. But he told us that it appeared MANY foreign students were participating in the rioting (it wasn't legitimate political speech--it was nothing but violence). I just hope the universities take appropriate action and expel students (especially foreign students) for such behavior. We were having the same issue here in the States particularly over the summer until finally University administrations woke up (and Congress got involved) and acknowledged that their "tolerance of different points of view" was nothing more than acquiescence to violence and antisemitism.

Are you aware of a similar situation happening at Cornell? Apparently his visa was not revoked after all, so I guess that means anyone with a visa doesn't have to abide by the conditions of that visa. https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2024/10/10/dddf-o10.html

Identify them. If they're on benefits, cut them off. If they're illegally in Canada, deport them back to their shitty countries of origin. If they are Canadians, device a penalty for them. Anyone burning a Canadian flag in Canada should be utterly ashamed. What a disgrace.

Here in Vancouver, crowds were chanting “We are Hezbollah and we are Hamas!” In case you were still under the misapprehension that these are peace activists who oppose terrorism.

Similarly, across Canada and pretty much everywhere that two or more gather in the name of beheadings and rape as political strategy, we hear the hackneyed “Long live the intifada!” Intifada, in case you don’t know, is a word that means blowing up Jews on buses, in discotheques, at festive meals and stabbing Jews walking down the street. Or, as “pro-Palestinian” activists call it, “resistance.”

Folks, unless the Castreau regime is voted out, Canada is done for..

These are not grassroots organically organized demonstrations. Did you read dr Rae here on Substack? This bs has been planned since the 90’s.

If the “We don’t want two states! Bring us back to ’48!” line had come from south of the border I'd be asking the protesters what they had against Alaska and Hawai'i.

“Brings us back to 48!”

Since most of these people don’t really know the subject, despite being so certain that they are right, I’ve hit on a little gem that stops them in their tracks before unleashing their frustrated fury.

Ask: “Please tell me, Why isn’t there a Palestinian State?”.

Works every time.

That’s an interesting question. I just searched it and apparently not. Unless you wanted to arrange a payment through PayPal or something off the platform. Strange. I appreciate your kind thought and regret that subscription appears to be the only structure they have.
