Excellent overview, thank you. I'm beginning to believe that many people collect words that capture their attention, like shiny things attract crows. They don't do anything useful with them, just repeat them senselessly.

Yeah this nails it. And yet not just hard leftist radical Nazis but allegedly smart informed establishment people INSIST that it's the settlements. It's maddening.

Excellent work Pat. Judea and Samaria, not the West Bank is the only correction. The Palestinians are not wanted in any neighboring country. They tried a coup in Jordan. They started trouble in Kuwait. They’ve ruined Lebanon. None of the neighboring Arab states want them. Partly this is to put pressure on Israel, partly it’s because these are a population of terrorists. The doctors, the “journalists”, the policemen, the man in the street, are all in favor of waging jihad and are trained to do it.

Israel would be insane to accept a two state solution with these killers. But we shall see what happens. If Trump gets into office, a lot of the dynamics will shift away from kissing ass to kicking ass.

I mean yes, conflict occurs when one group takes another’s land

It's the standard story throughout history.

I thinking "taking another's land" oversimplifies the history of human migration and all of its causes.

Well it's a one line comment. Not meant to cover the whole breadth of possible nuance.

But settling on someone's land has always been considered a hostile action. Thus disputes over territory.

The settlements don't happen during war though. That is traditionally an act of war throughout history.

In other words the Palestinian settlements are an impediment to peace. I agree.

Not as much of an impediment as refusing to return the remaining hostages (living and dead).

As you said, two things can be true at the same time.

In my world, and the world that most of the rest of the world lives in, Palestinian attitudes AND Israeli actions in the West Bank, which help to ensure those attitudes will never change, can both be true at the same time.

Oh, and let’s not forget that at this point the Israeli government as well as a majority of the Israeli electorate have already proclaimed that a two-state solution will “never” happen. But the reaction of the Palestinians to this statement is supposed to be “resist less”?!?

Or should Israeli leaders and voters be held less strictly to their words than the Palestinians?

Thank you for your insights. As a Gentile, I have gained a much better understanding of the Israel/Gaza situation and the history of conflict in the area.

And this hatred is being imported into my country 🇨🇦 as we speak as Gazans arrive in Toronto. Antisemitism is on the rise and it’s disgraceful. I fear for western civilization.
