Fantastic. I saw that "When we say “Never again,” we’re not asking you. We’re telling you." post by Michael Dickson as well, and I loved it as soon as I saw it. Yes, the situation right now is incredibly depressing and dangerous for us Jews, but we're not going anywhere and we're done asking for permission to stay alive.
I was going to Like your remark, but I don't like it; I hate it. I hate that it is necessary for you, for Israelis, and for all Jewish people to assert your right to exist.
I will never understand why antisemitism exists, but it has, it does, and, sadly, it will persist. In the face of all that, I am amazed at the resolute strength of your words. Be well, be safe, and continue to be strong.
The world really really can't get used to the idea of Jews who will no longer passively accept abuse, who stand up for themselves and fight back, so they have to twist the narrative to one that feels more familiar and comfortable -- whatever IT is, it must be the Jews' fault.
Thank you, Pat. The “never again” slogan being inverted to be used AGAINST Jews is some next level gaslighting. I just shared this with my Jewish friend chat group (we all need those groups these days 😆) and I know they’ll appreciate it. ❤️
One of your more powerful pieces lately. Well put! If only the Israeli government skill up in public communications. As one friend pointed out, they probably figured out that no words will convince the haters and gave up. But these days, the PR war is sometimes as important as the actual war.
You are certainly right. But I’m also of two minds. I’ll write soon about how, yes, our side needs better PR but, on the other hand, Israel should tell the world they don’t give a shit what the world thinks.
The government and media in Canada is beyond all limits in their anti Israel agenda, and this has been going on the entire duration of the war.
Someone else here on Substack recently mentioned the CTV news interview with Francesca Albanese, in which the later seems to suggest that Palestinian prisoners released by Israel were treated worse than Israeli hostages released by Hamas. These comments were said with zero push back from the interviewer.
Yahya Sinwar was an example of a Palestinian prisoner.
Hostages Yarden Bibas' and Eli Sharabi's wives and children were murdered, and the two men were kidnapped civilians.
What is happening in Canada is far more than an overton window situation.
Israel and Canada share diplomatic relations. Israel was invaded by thousands of armed Hamas militants and others who murdered and kidnapped large numbers of civilians and the Canadian politicians and media have consistently engaged in lying incitement against Israel regarding the on-going war Hamas launched.
What is happening in Canada against the State of Israel are significant crimes.
There needs to be a legal framework in place to deal with it.
Surely it's best to resolve things outside of the courtroom but the seriousness of the crimes committed in Canada makes that possibility seem remote.
Julius Streicher was convicted at Nuremberg of similar crimes.
The Jews are famously litigious. Strange that this incitement is allowed to run unimpeded.
Canadian, and I’m appalled at the antisemitism and repetitious false stories lies that foment it. Given the PM’s virtue signalling about hate speech, he doesn’t seem to have a clue what it is. In his mind it’s just anything he considers “anti-Trudeau”. The tolerance of the intolerable like cries for genocide in “the river to the sea” infuriates me. That IS hate speech.
Excellent ! I am sure that you know the following comment : »if palestnians put down their arms there will be peace. If Israelis put down their arms , there will be no more Israel »
The mask is off, the protesters and useful idiots are brainwashed, paid or both, and backed by the local governments and universities… time to fight back.. defund the universities and let the Feds prosecute the corrupt officials. No more diplomacy…
Here in the US, they’re already trying to come for the immigrants and the trans people. I’ll always stand with and stand up for scapegoats, but I don’t expect anyone will object when they come for the Jews. Again.
Still, I appreciate your work so much, because I get so tired of explaining that without Israel it’s only a matter of time for the diaspora.
For years Ive been telling people that it isn't th 1930s anymore. Jews fight back now. Get over it. Also, Im not concerned about "Palestinian" lives. Im concerned about Israeli lives. The Israelis are the victims of racist arab aggression. We should stop being embarrassed about saying this loudly and clearly. I don't see blacks grieving over Confederate suffering, and I don't know anyone at the UN trying to resolve the issue of of German refugees who left their homes in 1945.

We’re done explaining our right to exist, World!

“Israel’s enemies are motivated by race-hatred…Israelis are motivated by survival.” Says it all.
You mention random comments on Facebook etc.

This is what passes as acceptable in Canada.
We need to keep pounding to move the Overton window and make sure it becomes unacceptable again.

You nailed it, Pat. Thank you for your prescience and for advocating for us.
Thank you Ali
Never again is a promise that we Jews make to each other.
Thank you for this. I really needed to hear logic and reason after the ignorant comment left on one of my notes today.
Thank you for your kind words.
You are a blessing. Pat J.

Thank you for your kind words Ruth. These are difficult times.
