Someone should start a watermelon advocacy group and demand that these clowns stop their horticultural appropriation.

Pat - Exemplary post, as always. I think the big point here is that none of the people actually support Palestinians. This needs to be hammered home every single time.

When I get into online debates on socials I always ask the same question:

Given that Palestinians exist, and given that Israel exists, please share with me a practical idea you have to move closer to some form of coexistence.

You know what answer I always get? Nothing.

Yep. Exactly. There is not a whiff of constructive anything in their approach. Just opposition and perpetual conflict.

💯 It’s shocking that they have no answer to that question. It demonstrates clearly that they could not care less about practical ideas to move Gazans closer to some form of coexistence. It’s also unsurprising. Their real concern is the delusional belief that they will be “on the right side by of history,” as though they are making history. They want other people to hold them in esteem for their “virtue.”

Great post. One thing. l think that, more than wanting to see themselves as victims, these people don’t believe in anything positive, and are using this movement as a way to feel good about themselves, self-righteous and on the right side of history. Their chosen path to that is Israel (Jew) hate. For sure, they know nothing about what will actually benefit Palestinians. And care nothing for the oppressed anywhere Israel isn’t involved.

I didn't realize the watermelon was supposed to be a "stealth" symbol. As you accurately note, their endless caterwauling, thug and criminal behavior in public, the news media, popular culture/Hollywood, and on social media, etc. completely debunks that they are at all silenced. In fact--they are the ones proudly attempting to "shut down" anyone not part of their cult. I just figured the watermelon emoji was of a piece with the childishness and lack of maturity of the vast majority of these Gen Z protestors. That is, "hey, this cause needs a cute emoji!!" and knowing about it is kind of a ticket into their club. That they even waste their time on stuff like this is just more proof this is a game to them and they couldn't care less about a single Palestinian.

It really is infuriating to listen to the indignation of people screaming that Palestinians are 'ignored' or 'not-heard'. It seems like it comes from a tremendous sense- righteousness entitlement- they can't accept that many (most, I hope?) people don't see things their way, and instead anyone who doesn't join in their campaign of anti-Israel hatred must simply not have heard their anti-Israel propoganda clearly enough. And this while every other tragedy and mass killing going on around the world is crowded out by their anti-Israel campaign and victims of other genocides and atrocities around the world are truly not heard at all.

Oh G-d what next. I really used to like watermelons.

At some point the pro-Palestinian craze will see these advocates lose attention so they will shift to another victim cult. Then this will seem so passé .

Thank you for writing about the Realities that have provided an adequate excuse for pro palestinen forces embedded in The United States Government to Force migrate me and not even claim a Free Israel-USA Pin to wear on the internet.

I have this idea where someone should set up a watermelon seed spitting contest near one of these pro-Hamas demonstrations.

I’ve started to use the term “Palestinianism” to describe this ideological characteristic of the progressive left.
