For your readers who may not know, in October 1982 the Great Synagogue of Rome was attacked by terrorists: three hand grenades thrown by well-dressed so-called pro-Palestinians at worshippers as they left the synagogue, followed by a spray of bullets from automatic weapons. A two year-old was killed and 37 others were wounded, including the dead child’s four year old brother. Since then, police have been present. Many years.
Pat I pray your trip to Israel is heartwarming and uplifting for you. Your neshamah (soul) will feel at home. Safe travels.🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
Your reflections really hit home. I was in Padua recently, a city whose university has been around since 1222—plenty of time, one would think, to cultivate critical thinking. And yet, almost every wall around the university was covered in pro-Palestinian graffiti. The absence of any pro-Israel graffiti was just as telling—not as a sign of restraint, but as proof that only one voice is being heard.
So much for open debate. It seems the “educated” environment has settled for a monologue instead.
Thanks for sharing this. It’s a sobering but important reminder.
We were in Rome last Sept. I’m glad this banner is still up. Unfortunately the police do not protect their Jewish citizens. We had a young Jewish tour guide at the Tempio Maggiore who told us that over 1000 Roman Jews have fled to Israel since October 7 because of the violent jihadi crowd. 😞
This is the thing I find most perplexing about the Palestinians. They refuse to live with Jews peacefully or to accept a two state solution, and they know they can't win a war against Israel. But they do all they can to make Jews all over the world move to Israel as the only place where we can get police and military protection from their terrorist attacks. Then they crybaby about how so many Jews keep moving to Israel. Is it just impossible for them to understand that actions have consequences? If I were a Jew-hating Palestinian, the last thing I would do is conduct terrorist attacks against Jews outside Israel until they moved by the thousands into Israel.
Sadly, a dead Jew is a good Jew. Their actions reflect a toxic brainwashing that aims to kill the infidel Jew, regardless of locality, or even age, as we have again so unfortunately been reminded of lately.
It’s that damned death cult masquerading as a religion. It is insidious to their culture much more influential in their culture and society than we are able to imagine.
Thank you. You are a true mensch. May you have a safe and blessed trip to Israel.

Great observation!
Have a wonderful trip!
And, thank you again for your support. 💙🤍
Yes, Israel has many friends and allies, including me, and that has been true since I was 20 years old. 🇮🇱🇺🇸🇮🇱
A lot of us are quiet like a fuse. I am myself. Meanwhile the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
