It is no coincidence that this deliberate targeted killing of American Jews occurred the day after the “14,000 Gazan babies will die within 48 hours” UN blood libel was widely disseminated and shared by popular social media personalities with millions of followers - who couldn’t be bothered to retract it even when it was quickly discredited.

Good point — although these libels come up almost every day, so we could find examples …

Yes - but there’s something about the “Jews like to kill babies” which is most likely to push these sociopaths over the edge.

It has indeed.

Can I recommend to you an excellent FB post on the subject - written by Australian Rabbi James Kennard and posted Jan 2024 - on the origin and evolution of the blood libel.

I wish it could have a wider readership, especially now.

(Apologies for not posting a direct link, I’m not that tech savvy)

“That the shooter yelled ‘Free Palestine’ is a terrible use of a phrase that should — and usually does — imply a call for freedom, not for hate, bigotry and murder.”

This is just a lie. That's all it is.

As surely as the BDS movement supposedly started out back in the 1990s as a "non-violent pressure tactic" targeting Israeli institutions and not individuals, intended to get Israel to end the occupation of the disputed territories, and not the eradication of Israel. It was always a Trojan horse for individuals seeking to see Israel demonized out of existence.

Personally, “free palestine” has come to mean exactly the same as and therefore no different than “from the river to the sea”. Which in turn means “death to the Jews”. This killer has been charged with two counts of capital murder. It’s a safe bet he’s actually looking forward to his trial where he can play the role of a cause celebre . So senseless, so wrong, the deaths of these two beautiful innocent young people.

Exactly right. “Free Palestine” is short for “From the river to the sea etc.” What should Palestine, formerly Israel, be free of? Why Jews, of course, either run off, as in “Go back to Poland”, or killed outright, as happened in DC.

As for the capital murder charges, they should add hate crime too, because that’s clearly what it was.

Your subhead: My thought exactly.

The incident has elicited a lot more hateful comments.

My neighbor who wears an anti-Zionist t-shirt and flies a Palestinian war flag hurried put this morning to put up stickers urging the murder of Jews. (A white woman in her 20s.) I had to put "No More Mr. Nice Guy" on repeat as I went around pulling down the stickers. I am so tired of this shit! Ps. for some reason everyone else's Substack posts come to my email in box but not yours Pat. Can't see what's wrong.

I live in Portland. Police don’t protect Jews here. They let Nazis harass us throughout the last decade, marching and chanting, bothering Jews on the streets.

I agree with this about 99 percent. However, "Free Palestine" *always* means murder the Jews. Even if the person screaming it isn't the one personally doing the killing or planning to, it's an exhortation, or at the very least support, of someone else to kill Jews. There is no peaceful connotation of these words. And even if this were debatable--why the FUCK should we continue giving these people the benefit of the doubt?

I’m hardly one to quote the Bible, but I guess I would go for the “one good man” theory before destroying the entire town. But yeah.

I knew—with 💯 certainty—that the vast majority of people would either take delight in what happened or be utterly indifferent to it. I was right. I posted about this on my Facebook page and with all but a few lonely exceptions, the only reactions were by other Jews. That too was depressingly predictable.

With all due love and respect you are way too kind to these monsters. They know full well that the Palestinian National Movement is a cult of Jew murder. If they don't know then they are way too stupid to pay any respect or attention to. That the left has picked up and amplified this death cult and gotten away with it because the establishment powers don't care about Jewish life is monstrous. And it sure as hell didn't start on October 7th. It's been going on for well over a decade and really much longer. My Facebook memories are filled with old posts in which I say the same things we are saying now about this so called red green alliance going back over ten years. The person you quote is a monster. A monster who ignores and excuses a murderous death cult because it meets her "intersectional requirements" there is no more room for tolerance of these people. (Imagine an anti black death cult. No you can't)

Meanwhile in Toronto, four members of Metro Council still voted against what will be a 50 metre bubble zone around houses of worship, schools and daycare centres today, the only piece of business that council dealt with as the matter was debated all day.

One of the four was doubtless Alejandra Brava, who spoke on the CBC's Metro Morning, spinning the bylaw as an infringement on protesters' rights and the protests that we've seen in Toronto as "peaceful". Gord Perks was another. (Other Ontario cities have recently passed much stronger bubble zone bylaws than Toronto's which obliges the institutions to request the protective measure and the restriction if granted would expire in a year.)

Hopefully we'll find out who the other two were as well when more detailed reporting goes online.

I will never stop reminding people that "Palestine will be free" is a made-up translation. The slogan in the original Arabic actually says "Palestine will be Arab". Even protestors living in Western countries use it! https://x.com/IsraelWarRoom/status/1519079936602120192

Most people in the West don't even know when "Free Palestine" means, akin to most college students not even knowing what they are protesting. But it is like an infectious epidemic. I don't know what is worse - killing because you an ideologue, or because you are groupie.

I expected more from Tom Fletcher, for whose work I had a lot of respect. He needs to be held responsible for what comes out of his mouth. But, of course, who will do that?

I note that in all the thousands of times "from the River to the Sea" or "Free Palestine" has been invoked on a public broadcast and/or news interview, the protester or commentator has never been called to describe the meaning of implementing the notion. If it has ever occurred at all, the answer was given in platitudes or painfully vague generalizations. Never, never, has an interviewer doubled down and insisted, "Well, okay, tell me exactly how that is supposed to actually happen." Though true regarding all news organizations throughout the west, I place CBC radio at the top of the list. They are egregious.

"Free Palestine" seems ta be worse than ya'd think...not only "kill da joos" but also "kill 'em to remind the world that this ain't nuttin' ta look at--move right along, these two don't deserve ANY MORAL HUMAN's FOLK-US b/c dead Gazans, b/c dead "FallaStinian" babies, b/c carpet bombin', " b/c evil greedy real-estate grubbin' luxury resort cravin' JOOS ain't worth a moment of saddness...

In fact popular punditz like Caitlyn Johnstone (the foin laydee that got all bent outta shape b/c the Bibas babies were "too white" an' offended the brown "resistance fighters") t'day screeded that this is so absurd that folks git all worked up 'bout a couple'a dead RICH WHITE joos when there are tens of thousands of dead "Palestinans" ALL Murdered In COLD BLOOD by the evil Israels. She chastises the world fer not havin' her curate WHAT counts as a tragedy an' what is a "jus' too dang bad fuk u joos" kinda death-event.

So we are given a verbal spankin' an' told its WRONG fer us to pay attention to this killin'.... Dunderheads like this dame want PARITY so it seems that until 40K American Joos are DEAD we have no reason ta pipe up er "notice."

"Free Palestine" indeed insists that dead chews don't matter an' how dare anybuddy mourn 'em.... b/c until the entire "nay shun" is free from River to Sea, dead joos don't mean diddly squat. (Dara Horn said everybuddy likes dead joos--just not the livin' ones--but clearly HERE there IZ a movement....a purdy strong one--to hate the dead ones too!).
